DEBORAH AXT

Deborah Axt (she/her/ella) is a coach and consultant supporting power building organizations. She has guided numerous organizational leaders through the collective bargaining process from a deeply pro-union perspective developed over a career of organizing low-wage workers and building democratic people’s organizations. She was a union organizer supporting construction and hospitality workers in the 1990's and participated in a staff union organizing drive as a frontline organizer. In 2001 she graduated Georgetown law school magna cum laude and joined Make the Road New York, where she worked for twenty years as a workplace justice attorney, then Legal Director, and finally Co-Executive Director. She also co-led Make the Road Action and Make the Road States. While at Make the Road she co-led organizing efforts of car wash workers, bank workers, Amazon warehouse workers, and workers from a range of notoriously exploitative sectors. Since 2021, Deborah has worked as a coach and consultant. She has also served on the Boards of several organizations navigating staff union drives.
